Procrastination: What is it good for?

April 14, 2009
Instead of working on my paper which is due tonight, I thought I'd write a haiku about the situation.
Still need four pages
Paper due at six tonight
I have class all day

Yep, for some reason I can really start typing when the adrenaline gets going and I start to sweat. But why did I think I could write some of it today when I have class from 10:45- 4:15 (minus lunch)? What is wrong with me? Any tips on how I can quit this ridiculous procrastination habit? I really would like to know even though I kind of despair about ever changing in this particular area. How sad :(

*Mom, if you're reading this, and I know you are, please don't be anxious. You know this is just my modus operandi no matter how contrary it is to your nature. :) I wouldn't be writing a haiku if I didn't think the paper would get finished.

Jana's version, here we go:

Still need 3 pages
Paper is due at six tonight
I might not make it to class

(or maybe you could substitute the last sentence to "and Im checking out your blog instead of writing")

Yes, you know I'll read this. But I'm turning over a new leaf: I will not let your procrastination cause knots in my stomach! Well, maybe not more than two knots, anyway.

I know you'll get it done and do it quite well besides.

I love reading your blog, so keep it up. Miss you and love you,
Mom

Papers get written.
Assignments get handed in.
Learning never ends.
